Tonight Nick and I were watching a movie and I got up to get a glass of milk. I noticed we were running low, so I wrote "milk" on our grocery list that is on our refrigerator. Above it I read that Nick wrote "mayo". I got uncontrollably giddy and I literally laughed out loud. It occurred to me that we were married and we have a grocery list on our fridge. Two little words that start with a "m" reminded me of the biggest "m" in my life. Marriage. Sometimes I forget or take for granted how amazing it is that Nick kissed me, asked me out and fell in love with me. Not amazing because those things are unfathomable, but amazing that we were both lucky enough to recognize the magnitude and impact of our feelings for each other. I look back and see how much this relationship has changed us both and I feel so grateful.
I hope everyone experiences a love like this in their lifetime. I know it doesn't necessarily need to be the love of a significant other too. I feel that love can come from anything. Family, children, friends and even pets. Some loves profoundly impact you, and when they do I believe that it is a reflection of God's love. I am agnostic. I have never subscribed to one religion because I believe that love is at the root of them all. I feel like when we experience a love so amazing that we can literally see the changes it has instilled into our lives it is a religious experience, no matter your religion. I am so grateful that I have loves like that sprinkled throughout my life. I have my family, friends, my husband, puppy and baby on the way. All of these relationships show me a reflection of the greatest love imaginable. I never want to take that for granted. I know I'm a little late on my Thanksgivings, I just love that a grocery list with two "m" words on it would be the inspiration for the gratitude I have for the many loves in my life.
