Introducing: Baby E!!!

On 1/22/13 we went to Dr. Gore for an ultrasound to check on baby's growth. Once he reviewed the measurements he decided to go ahead and induce, as the baby wasn't growing.
At around 12pm they started me on Cervidil, I had to be on that for 12 hours. After the initial 12 hours they decided to continue the Cervidil until morning.

Around 6 am they took the Cervidil out and let me shower and get ready. Then around 7am I was started on Pitocin. Contractions weren't bad at all I was fairly content and comfortable. They broke my bag of waters around 2:30pm. Around 4:30pm my cervix was at 4cm. By 6:00pm the contractions were overwhelming and extremely painful. I had done a variety of birthing positions to try to cope and asked for something to take the edge off. I thought I was only at like 5-6cm dilated at the time. While the nurse was prepping to give me Fentanyl I told her I was starting to feel pressure.  Before the medication  was administered she checked my cervix. I was at 10cm so she said I was going to have the baby now, so no medicine! Just when I thought I couldn't take the pain it was time to push! They called my doctor and couldn't get in touch with him but luckily, there was a doctor on staff there to catch the baby. After half an hour of pushing our beautiful Emmett was born at 6:29 pm on 1/23/13!! He got an 8 or 9 on his apgar. He was 4lbs 12oz and 16.5in. He is soo easy to love. He latched and breast fed on both breasts. He also got to room in with us the entire stay and did not have any time in the NICU. He was super healthy, just small. Even though I wasn't planning on being induced, my experience was amazing and I am so happy to welcome our little man into the world.

I've heard tons of complaints about these mesh undies, but I loved them! Then there is me with my mom and me with Nick.

Our little man.

My last baby bump picture, our little family, and our sweet boy, Emmett.

My mom was so awesome she helped me through labor and stayed until it was time to push. She was supportive and helpful she took care of RC and made us a weeks worth of meals.

Nick was such an amazing labor coach. He helped me breathe and focus and made the day entirely about me and getting me though the worst of it.

We were lucky enough for Mona to be visiting from Denmark when they induced me. Emmett got to meet his Danish auntie. Suffice to say his auntie loved him.
